Kasimu Abdulai, the National Health Insurance Authority’s Upper East Regional Director, has urged the residents of the region to properly utilise the recently launched MyNHIS App for signing up for and renewing their national health insurance cards.

According to him, the app provides a convenient digital platform for people both at home and abroad to either register for or renew their membership using their Ghana Card.

“In consonance with the government’s digitalization agenda, the Vice President,  Dr. Mahmoud Bawumia, launched the MyNHIS App on the 5th of December, 2022, to provide us all as Ghanaians that convenient digital platform where you can sit at home or be abroad and register to join the scheme or renew your membership. This application provides operational efficiencies as well as enhances the members’ experience. Like a reduction in operational burden at the district offices; cost relating to ICT infrastructure for the authority; supply chain complexity relating to printers, ribbons, and others.”

He made this known at the just-ended 2022 end-of-year performance review meeting held in Bolgatanga.

The programme was with the theme, “Role of digitalization in Modern Healthcare delivery: Introducing MyNHIS App”

Touching on the target achievements for the year, Mr. Abdullai noted that the region achieved 94.6% of its membership target of 988,442 people.

“…the region has made some significant strides in achieving its targets, and despite operational and administrative challenges, we have been able to achieve 94.6% of a membership target of 988,442 people. This constitutes a population coverage of 70.45% of a regional population of 1,327,251,””, he added.

He called on parents, and members to make use of the application with the NHIS’s USSD system (*929#).
