A parliamentary hopeful of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Nabdam constituency of the Upper East Region, Lawyer Lamtiig Apanga, has promised to lobby for jobs for the teeming unemployed youth in Nabdam when he is given the opportunity to serve the constituents as MP.

The lawyer said the constituency can be considered deprived, hence his decision to harness all available opportunities to empower the youth with opportunities for them to be self-sufficient.

“When I get the opportunity to serve you as a Member of Parliament, I will bring development to Nabdam. I will focus on education, girl child education, women empowerment, youth employment, and health delivery”

Lawyer Lamtiig was speaking to the media when a mammoth constituents joined him from the Zanlerigu-Gane community to submit their nomination forms at the party’s office in Nangodi to contest the NDC parliamentary primaries in the Nabdam constituency.

Lawyer Apanga who was optimistic that the NDC will emerge winners in the 2024 general election, entreated the delegates to elect him as the party’s parliamentary candidate for Nabdam “because the best way Nabdam can have a better advantage of governance is that we will have a lot of former appointees and former MPs”

“The current MP has served two terms; he has done his part, but his output is not good enough. It is about time he takes a back seat and allows the young people to come in,” lawyer Lamtiig stated.

On May 13, the legal practitioner will come face-to-face with the incumbent NDC MP, Dr. Mark Kurt Nawaane.

Lawyer Lamtiig Apanga, who pledged to operate an open and inclusive leadership when given the opportunity as Nabdam MP, accused the MP of not being transparent in his dealings.

“I have said, and I repeat it again, that we cannot continue using the house of the MP as his office. We must have an office for the Member of Parliament so that he will come to the office and attend to businesses but not for him to sit in his house and we attend to him.”

Lawyer Lamtiig Apanga, who had promised to drill 10 boreholes in the Nabdam district, has so far drilled five in three months. On September 20, 2021, the legal practitioner who had observed the low number of legal practitioners in the Upper East Region in September 2021 organised the first legal seminar in Nabdam that saw renowned lawyers like Samson Lardy Anyenini and Deputy Attorney General Alfred Tuah Yeboah mentoring the constituents. Lawyer Lamtiig Apanga as part of support to demystify the fear of young people venturing into the legal profession, has promised to guide and mentor 10 people from the constituency to become lawyers.
