Communication Specialist, Francis Abirigo files to contest Chiana-Paga Primaries

Francis Atayure Abirigo, a Communications Specialist, submitted his nomination forms for the Chiana-Paga Constituency Parliamentary Primaries in the Upper East Region for the National Democratic Congress on Wednesday, March 22nd, 2023. (NDC).

He assured the delegates and party executives that he plans to pursue an open-door policy leadership style in which he will consult with constituents on all development projects.

Mr. Abirigo, who was addressing the NDC members at the constituency party office in Paga after filing, said his modus operandi was first of all to put smiles on the faces of the   cataloguing them into widows, physically challenged, the elderly and orphans amongst others.

“I am not coming to lord myself over you. As an orphan myself, I know how difficult it is for a single mother to raise children, and I want to assure those mothers, wives, and sisters that if I am elected, I shall ensure that their children are in school and that their welfare will be seriously taken care of,” he assured.

He also stated that the NDC party in Chiana-Paga is plagued by petty squabbles among members, and that he intends to work to integrate the people for peaceful coexistence in which respect for the elderly, youth, and women will be the norm.

Francis Atayure Abirigo, a former local GRASAG President at the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ), has a master’s degree in Development Communications, a bachelor’s degree in business administration, an LLB, and diplomas in journalism and marketing, as well as extensive on-the-job training in Ghana and abroad.

He has practised journalism, public relations, and corporate communication since 2000 with several media houses and the National Health Insurance Scheme, and is currently a senior communications specialist at Zoomlion Ghana Limited.

Francis Atayure Abirigo, 49, is married with four children and is running against the incumbent Member of Parliament, Hon Thomas Dalu Addah, a retired WAEC worker and former District Chief Executive, a senior lawyer Raphael Aopare Alijina, who happened to be Abirigo’s secondary school classmate, and junior businessman Nikyema Billa Alamzy, with whom he has worked for several years.

Interestingly, the three most youthful aspirants on the list attended the Navrongo Senior High School, were arts students, and therefore are proud Nabia.
