An aspiring parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Talensi constituency has pleaded with delegates of the party to vote for a candidate who is experienced and has what it takes to change the face of Talensi. A former District Chief Executive for Talensi, Edward Awunnore, who is in the NDC race, said he has demonstrated that he is capable of bringing development to the people of the constituency.

“And so, I plead with delegates that on May 13th, they should vote for Hon. Edward Awunnore for more development and more of the things that the good people of Talensi are yearning for.”

Mr. Awunnore, who promised to operate an open-door policy when he is given the mandate as a parliamentary candidate, said that he would work together with the other 7 aspirants to ensure the NDC wins the parliamentary and presidential elections.

He mentioned that the NDC delegates would consider him the best choice considering his track record as the former DCE for Talensi. Mr. Awunnore indicated that he was able to spearhead developments such as the tarring of the Winkogo-Tongo road, the upgrade of the Tongo health centre to a district hospital, and the establishment of the Tongo Community Senior High Technical School when he was DCE.

The NDC parliamentary aspirant was speaking to A1 Radio after successfully going through the vetting and balloting process at the NDC’s Upper East Regional office in Zuarungu to contest the party’s parliamentary primaries slated for May 13th, 2023.

He expressed some level of disappointment that the current government has failed to complete projects in the Talensi district, such as the Community Day Senior High School at Yameriga, which was started under the John Mahama NDC government.

“The plan was to tar the road from the Winkogo barrier to the district capital, continue to Yameriga through Sheaga, through Gare-Gbane to Duusi, and link the Bolga-Bawku Road. I started it and I know where it stopped, and I will continue that when given the mandate as MP for Talensi”, he stated.

The balloting was immediately done after the vetting, and Mr. Awunnore picked the number one position, which means he would be in the first position on the ballot paper.
