Only NDC has women issues at heart – Upper East Regional Women Organiser wooes women ahead of 2024 elections

The Upper East Regional Women Organiser for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Madam Fawzia Yakubu, has indicated that all political parties in the country do not have women at heart except the NDC.

According to her, despite calls from international and national bodies for equal representation of women in positions and policy formulations, the majority of political parties have somewhat failed.

“You will agree with me that NDC is the only party that has women’s interests at heart. And we demonstrated that during the 2020 elections when we chose Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang as a running mate to John Mahama.”

“NDC believes in equal representation and the growth of women. I want all women listening or reading to understand that with the NDC, we are at home, but the other parties will only use us to get their votes without listening to our voices.”

The organiser made these comments at the just-ended Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) programme held at Navrongo Community Nursing Training College.

“If they were listening to our voices, our everyday calls for this current government to reduce the sanitary pad levy would not have fallen on deaf ears. Just look at this current administration—the majority of women have been either silenced or somewhat traumatised at their line of work,” she added.

Madam Yakubu, however, encouraged the youth, especially the female students, and women in general to join the NDC, as it is the only party that has their best interests at heart and will continue to demonstrate it.
