Mothers who gave birth on Eid day at the Upper East Regional Hospital and their babies have received an undisclosed cash sum and package from the AquaBolg Foundation.

The package included items like washing powder, bleach, baby wipes, toilet rolls, bathing soap and bar soaps.

The AquaBolg Foundation is a subsidiary of a leading water producing company, AquaBolg Nature Mineral Water, based in the Bolgatanga Municipality of the Upper East Region.

Speaking to the media after the donation to the mothers and their newborn babies in the maternity block at the regional hospital, Executive Director of the foundation, Mrs. Humul Khrusum Tahiru, said that the foundation is out to give back to society.

The donation to the newborn babies and their mothers is part of the foundation’s vision and objectives, which is to help address some of the social needs of the people and the communities in which they operate.

“AquaBolg Foundation is a subsidiary that AquaBolg, as a company, sat down and realised that there are many social issues that the government alone cannot tackle. So we decided to also sit down and see to it that we can do what we can to tackle some of these issues. We know that we are a small company and cannot do everything, but we can do our part. If all of us, as business people, decided to tackle the problems in society little by little, I think we will make headway.”

“So, basically, our goal is to identify projects or vulnerable people in the communities and come in and support in our own little way. It may not be huge, but we believe that the little that we do can make an impact. So, basically, we are just giving back to society,” she said.

According to Mrs. Khrusum Tahiru, the donation, which coincidentally occurred on Eid al-Fitr day, marking the end of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting, is to congratulate the women and show appreciation to the health officials who helped the women give birth successfully, knowing that their leading hygienic water producer in the region, AquaBolg, is deeply concerned about them.

Among the gestures was 60 bags of AquaBolg sachet water to the regional hospital maternity ward to help serve the water needs at the maternity ward.

The Officer in Charge of the maternity block, Regina Badii, thanked the AquaBolg Foundation and expressed some level of excitement for the gesture on behalf of the management of the hospital and the mothers and their babies, while calling on other organizations to also do the same by visiting them.

Meanwhile, the beneficiary mothers who were overwhelmed by the gesture thanked the foundation and asked for God’s blessings and promotion for the AquaBolg brand.
