It was wrong for regional chairmen to endorse John Boadu, wrong for NDC executives to endorse JDM – Ayinbisa

The Upper East Regional Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Peter Ayinbisa, has admitted that it was wrong for regional chairmen of the party to, before the national executive election, endorse John Boadu, the then General Secretary.

In the same vein, Mr. Ayinbisa believes it is wrong for the National, Regional and Constituency Executives of the NDC to openly endorse the former President, John Dramani Mahama, and name him the presumptive flagbearer of the party when elections have not been conducted.

The Upper East Regional Communication Director explained that the situation doesn’t foster a safe, free, and fair environment for the other flagbearer contestants.

Mr. Aynibisa said this when he spoke on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show with Mark Smith.

“The way the regional executives and the national executives have all declared support for John Mahama. Who does that? They are supposed to be the referees,” he said.

Responding to comments from the Upper East Regional Communications Officer of the NDC, Jonathan Abdallah Salifu, who had, on the same platform, explained that Dr. Kwabena Duffuor had not visited the region to campaign, Mr. Ayinbisa said, “With the way you are treating Duffuor and his camp, how would they come here? Even if they came, they would not use you. You sponsored a programme for the former President, John Mahama. Your regional chairman was on stage campaigning for John Mahama.”

When asked his thoughts on a similar situation where regional chairmen of the NPP declared support for John Boadu, Mr. Ayinbisa responded, “Did we say it was right? You should be seen as being fair to all manner of persons. It was wrong then, and it is wrong today.”

Mr. Ayinbisa called on the NDC to tidy up its acts and begin to properly manage its election activities.

“What I am trying to tell the NDC is that they should do what is right because they would be asking the Electoral Commission to do what is right. Even in their internal elections, they should begin to show seeds of faithfulness. They should treat the Duffuor and Kojo Bonsu Camps with some amount of fairness.”
