The parliamentary candidate elect of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Zebilla constituency, Ebenezer Alumire Ndebilla, has described his victory in the just-ended parliamentary election as due to perseverance and determination.
“This victory is a victory for being resolute. If you are resolute, determined, and resilient, you will get paid one day. I believe that this victory is out of my patience, out of the resilience that I have kept over the years.”
After making two failed attempts to lead the NDC in the Zebilla constituency in 2015 and 2019, Mr. Alumire was elected with 450 votes to seal his position as the next parliamentary candidate for the constituency.
He emerged as the winner of the contest, beating six other contenders in a fiercely contested election.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Alumire thanked the delegates and promised to bring all the aspirants together to enable the NDC to retain the seat.
“To my colleague contestants, I do not think that I am the winner; I think it is a win for all of us. This win is not for Ebenezer but a win for NDC, and NDC is for all of us, and so, I urge all of them to remain calm. I will be reaching out to all of them for us to come together again to ensure that we secure a massive win in 2024”, he added.
The parliamentary candidate promised to “inject new energy into the NDC to ensure that the elephant goes back to the bush”
Mr. Alumire said he hopes to implement policies and programs, as well as lobby for companies and factories to be established in the area to reduce unemployment in the Zebilla constituency when he finally emerges as a Member of Parliament for the area.
