The Upper East Regional Communication Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Jonathan Abdallah Salifu is alleging that the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is President Nana Akufo-Addo’s favourite candidate for the NPP’s presidential primaries.

Mr. Abdallah Salifu, speaking on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show suggested that the situation raises serious concerns because the Vice President, Dr. Bawumia, is not a man of his own and would be pushed into doing the bidding of the current president is he, Dr. Bawumia leads the NPP to victory in the 2024 general election.

Even worse, according to the Regional Communication Director, is the fact that the VEEP has not been truthful.

“Always tell the truth. You see, when lies are a part of you, sometimes, you do not even care who you are telling lies to. You might even be sitting with your wife lying to her. Nobody is attacking the Vice President, we are only telling the truth. Yesterday, Kwabena Agyapong said we shouldn’t allow a poodle to lead the party. He was simply referring to Bawumia. It is clear that he is the candidate of President Akufo-Addo and the people in government. If he was elected, they would use him from behind,” he said.

Meanwhile, Speaking on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show, the Upper East Regional Communication Director, Peter Ayinbisa explained that there’s a continued apparent and covert attempt by all other contestants in the NPP’s presidential race to blame the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the troubles facing the candidate, a situation Mr. Ayinbisa describes as unfortunate.

According to the Regional Communications Director all comments from many of the contestants have been aimed at denigrating the current government led by President Akuffo Addo and also denigrating the candidature of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

“This is what is happening. Everyone is trying to blame Dr. Bawumia and this is unfortunate. This includes the person you just mentioned [Kwabena Agyapong]. When we were at the Supreme Court and things were difficult, and we needed leaders to lead this party, to go and gather the pink sheets, all these people were in this country and they shied away. They chose not to be part of it,” he said.

Mr. Ayinbisa described Dr. Bawumia as a truly altruistic individual who deserves to lead the party into greater heights.

This is someone who has sacrificed himself, his life and everything else for this party. BUt because of a simple contest to elect a leader for the party, they throw mud at people like that,” he said.
