The Upper East Regional Communication Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Peter Ayinbisa is convinced that the current Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, would emerge winner at the polls to elect a flagbearer for the party in the coming weeks.

Mr. Ayinbisa’s strong conviction comes from interactions he has had with delegates of the party. The Regional Communication explained that while all 10 individuals who have filed their nomination are worth considering, Dr. Bawumia stands tall because of his competence, sincerity, integrity, humility and dedication to service.

Mr. Ayinbisa made these comments when he spoke to Mark Smith on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show today, Wednesday, July 5, 2023.

“The delegates are speaking with one voice. They are saying they want someone who will win them the election. They want a candidate that would break the 8. That is what they are looking for and they think that the Vice President is committed and is hardworking. He has contributed enormously towards building this party. They thing that where he is now, it is only fair that the president hands over the baton to him.”

“They believe that the work he has done with the President makes him a better candidate to face the NDC,” he explained.

The three flag bearer hopefuls, John Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, Kwadwo Poku and the Vice-President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, went through the vetting process on the first day of the sitting of the committee last Monday, and the process is expected to end tomorrow.

The committee is expected to submit its report to the National Executive Committee through the General Secretary on Monday, July 10, 2023.

The nine-member Vetting Committee is chaired by Prof. Aaron Mike Ocquaye. Other members of the committee are Frank Davies, Lord Oblitey Commey, Osei Bonsu Amoah, Kwasi Amoako-Attah, Stephen Abankwa Sekyere, Hackman Owusu-Agyeman, Rita Talata Asobayire and Adelaide Ahwireng.

The Director of Elections, Evans Nimako, is the secretary to the committee while Mr Amoah is its spokesperson.
