Parliamentary candidate hopeful of the New Patriotic Party in the Builsa South constituency, Daniel Kwame Gariba is optimistic about his chances of winning the parliamentary seat for the NPP. Mr. Gariba, the District Chief Executive for the area, went into the 2020 general elections but was beaten by the incumbent MP, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak of the opposition NDC.

But this time, Mr. Gariba claimed that the National Democratic Congress in the Upper East Region is fully aware that they will lose the Builsa South parliamentary seat in the upcoming elections. According to Mr. Gariba, the NPP has worked tirelessly to gain the support and trust of the people of Builsa South and the NDC is aware of the growing support for the NPP in the constituency.

“Even the NDC know that if there is a seat in Upper East that would be taken from them, it is the seat in Builsa South”

The incumbent MP, Dr. Apaak in the 2020 elections obtained 7, 451 votes representing 46.41 percent while his close contender, Mr. Gariba secured 5,674 votes representing 35.34 percent. The Dean of Municipal and District Chief Executives for the Upper East Region says he is not only well positioned to ensure the MP runs for his money but he is winning the seat for the first time for the NPP

“Dr. Clement Apaak himself knows that the kind of hot chase that we gave him in the 2020 elections and looking at the quantum leap in terms of vote coverage, he knows that even if we want to go by the same speed, pace, there is no way he will survive the seat in Builsa. For 2024, by the grace of God, we know the seat belongs to the New Patriotic Party”, he declared.

On Friday 4th August, the Builsa South DCE submitted nomination forms at the NPP party’s office at Fumbisi to contest the party’s parliamentary primaries. He said he decided to contest the election for the second time because his commitment to the area’s development has resonated with the constituents, and they are ready for a change in representation.

Mr. Gariba indicated that the current government is transforming all corners of the district, a development that the people of Builsa South district have never seen in the era of the NDC government.

“And they know with me continuing as an MP in the constituency, Builsa South will be the real place to visit because Daniel Gariba is still there to provide the needed development and service to the good people of Builsa South”, he added.

Mr. Gariba who spoke exclusively to A1 Radio believes that the people of Builsa South are ready for change and are looking for a leader who can bring development and progress to the constituency. He highlighted the need for unity among party members and supporters, stating that a united front is crucial in winning the parliamentary seat and the 2024 general election.
