The Bolgatanga Municipal Education office in the Upper East Region is currently has made a passionate appeal for support to renovate a building that houses the officials of the directorate.

The Bolgatanga Municipal Education Directorate is housed in a building which is said to have been put up in the colonial era and has since not received any significant renovation. There are visible cracks on portions of the wall along with huge leaks in the roof of the same building.

In an exclusive interview with A1 Radio’s David Azure about the state of the Municipal Education office, the Municipal GES Public Relations Officer and Officer in Charge of TVET. Frederick Agunga-dongo Ayine stated emphatically that the dilapidated GES office is a major concern to the directorate which needs urgent attention.

According to Mr. Agunga-dongo, although there are many challenges confronting various schools in the municipality, the GES office is posing danger to the staff.

“Education in the municipality is a challenge with so many issues. We need furniture, we need classroom blocks, and we need tables for teachers which we don’t have. As I speak to you now, our office [the Municipal education directorate] is in a very dilapidated building. It is a building that was built during the colonial era, which is very hazardous to the health of the occupants. And we are calling on all well-meaning Ghanaians, those who are willing to support, they should come and do that for us. As we seek for support to improve education in the municipality basically these are the things.”

The Municipal PRO Mr. Agunga-dongo, further appealed to Joseph Eastwood Anaba, president of the Eastwood Anaba Ministries (EAM) to go to their aid and rescue them from their current difficult situation. He noted that Rev. Anaba had shown some interest of helping them some time back, but he deemed it necessary to remind of the earlier promise.

“Some time back the ‘papa’ of the municipality, our own father, Reverend Eastwood Anaba took a step to work on the Municipal Education Directorate. I believe he is still planning to me and then probably give us the way forward. So we are still begging that if he is listening to us, Reverend Eastwood Anaba the Municipal Education Office is still waiting and begging for your attention” he appealed.
