The Member of Parliament for Assin Central and Flagbearer Hopeful of the New Patriotic Party, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, and four others are to appear before the party`s disciplinary committee for suspected offences committed at the just-ended Super Delegated Conference.
In a statement dated August 27,2023 and signed by the General Secretary of the party, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the flagbearer hopeful and the four others are to face the Disciplinary Committee for their alleged conduct that violates certain provisions of the party`s constitution.
It said “Pursuant to Article 10(7)(5) of the New Patriotic Party Constitution, certain individuals, namely Raphel Patrick Sarfo, Charles Dokyi Yaw-Addo, Musa Sulemana, and Hopeson Yaovi Adorye, will be referred to the Party`s Disciplinary Committee”.
“This is in direct response to evidence, including video and photographic materials, that suggests potential violation of the provisions outlined in Article 3(5)(A) of the party’s constitution and potential misconduct under Article 4(7)”. It added.
“Emphasis must also be placed on the fact that Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, pursuant to the above-mentioned constitutional provisions, will also be summoned before the Disciplinary Committee of the party to provide responses and further details to the accusations and threats he made against certain personalities in a video that has since gone viral on social media and mainstream media”. The statement stressed.
It will be recalled that Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, in a viral video that surfaced on Saturday, August 26, 2023, during the NPP`s superdelegates election, while on a phone interview with Oman FM, called out the names of the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Amidst threats, he claimed that his polling agent at the North East Region was sacked and chased out and they were those behind such an act.
