The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), has called on corporate bodies and traditional rulers with cultural festivals in the Upper East Region to collaborate with  its outfit to help improve the patronage of their activities.

Speaking to Mark Smith on A1 Radio`s Daybreak Upper East Show, the Upper East Regional Director of the GTA, Wisdom Ahadzi, said his outfit is committed to deliberately promoting annual cultural events and significant festivities in the region.

This, he noted, would help enhance the visibility of those festivities and attract people from the Diaspora to the region.

For this to be successful, however, he said traditional rulers and corporate bodies must plan their festivities ahead of time and communicate same to authorities to be disseminated to the public so that people all around the world will be able to prepare adequately for the events.

Mr. Ahadzi said this would also help highlight the significance of most of the valuable cultural festivals celebrated in the region to attract tourists.

He said the region is blessed with tourist sites including the Paga crocodile pond, Pikworo slave camp,Tongo Hills, and Tangzug Shrine, among others, and all stakeholders must do well to promote the region in that direction.

The Regional Director said he is committed to making the Upper East a tourist attraction to boost economic activities and put the region on the map and called for support from traditional authorities, corporate bodies, and the general public.
