The reigning artist of the year of the Upper East Region (UER) Music Awards, Pandy Bobby, has stated that he has broken the hold genies have over reigning artistes of the year in the region. Pandy intimated that these genies held the future of these artistes so much so that they couldn’t have hit songs after winning the ultimate awards.

Speaking to Ibrahim Aziz, known in showbiz as Mr. Lexis, on A1 Radio`s Daybreak Upper East Show about his just-released song titled “Yine panga,” Pandy recounted that most musicians who won artist of the year in the Region previously had difficulty getting a hit song.

“I have noticed some trend, and that is if you win artist of the year in this region here and you don`t take your time, you won’t get a hit song or blow again. It started with B-Wayne; when he won artist of the year, he never got a hit again. Same with Rock City and Nambawan, but now Nambawan has gotten a hit, and thus, after I have won and had hits including Love Story, Friday, and now Yine Panga,

The Alcohol hitmaker added that he was unsure of the mystery behind the downfall of artists after winning the award, but that trend has now been dismantled by him.

He noted that by virtue of winning the artist of the year award last year, whether he files or not, he is going to be nominated, and he is optimistic of winning the artist of the year award again to set a record since the inception of the award scheme.
