The Director of the Zacklin Training Center for Electrical Wiring, Cliton Bukari, has indicated that poor wiring and the use of old electrical gadgets contribute largely to high energy consumption.
According to Mr. Bukari, wiring goes beyond the connection of wires for power generation to the use of the right and quality materials by well-trained professionals.
“I can tell you that we are not in normal times as far as energy consumption is concerned, and you will bear with me that we all complain when we go to the vendors to purchase power, and though it is a fact that they have increased utility tariffs, poor wiring is greatly contributing to the rate of our consumption,” he sated.
“The type of cables used is a factor; how the cables are laid and the joints the electrician makes during the wiring all contribute to the energy consumption. “Again, with regards to the power factor, which has to do with the gadgets, the use of old gadgets also contributes to high energy consumption,” Mr. Bukari added.
He revealed this to Mark Smith on A1 Radio`s Daybreak Upper East show when he spoke about proper House and Industrial wiring.
Mr. Bukari noted that it is as a result of this high consumption that the Energy Commission is making attempts to cease the importation of used electrical gadgets in the system.
He advised the public to ensure that they get the right professional to use the best materials for the wiring of their homes to minimise the energy they consume.
