Solomon Zinekena T.T.B., a resident and member of an ad-hoc committee aiding investigations in the Talensi District over recent robbery cases, has expressed concern that residents, especially those in the eastern part of the district, live in fear due to persistent robberies and attacks on individuals.

According to the social commentator, on Thursday, September 21, 2023, between 8 p.m., two gentlemen were robbed at gunpoint, during which the robbers took away their phones, money, and a motorbike. This incident led to the formation of the committee.

Mr. Zinekena called on the Ghana Police Service to intensify their operations in the area by deploying more officers and involving the military to restore security and ease anxiety among the residents.

“We are deeply troubled by the loss of lives in our community. We urge the Ghana Police Service, including Dampare and his team, the police commander in the district, regional commander, chairman of DECEC, Chairman of national security, the national security Minister, the MP, and anyone who values peace, to intervene. The police should appreciate the vigilance of Talensi youth, who have refrained from taking the law into their own hands and instead are actively providing information to the police to combat crime,” he stated during a media briefing when he reported himself to the police in response to allegations made against him by a resident regarding his work as a member of the ad hoc committee.

Solomon Zinekena T.T.B. further emphasised that, regardless of people’s opinions, he will continue to fight against crime and robbery in the district, particularly in the eastern enclave.
