The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the Bolgatanga-Central Constituency, Figo Awonekai, has launched a scathing critique against the incumbent Member of Parliament, Isaac Adongo.

Mr. Awonekai accused Mr. Adongo of being an arrogant and aggressive politician, attributing the lack of development in the constituency to his contentious style of politics on the national stage.

Mr. Awonekai contends that Mr. Adongo’s aggressive approach to national politics has adversely affected the Bolgatanga-Central constituency, leading to a lack of much-needed development.

The Parliamentary Hopeful argues that Adongo’s focus on national-level politics has diverted attention from the pressing issues within the constituency, ultimately hindering progress.

Expressing disappointment on A1 Radio’s Daybreak Upper East Show, Mr. Awonekai highlights the unopposed nature of Adongo’s candidacy during past parliamentary elections.

According to Mr. Awonekai, the lack of internal competition within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has given Mr. Adongo a sense of entitlement and contributed to his allegedly arrogant demeanor.

Mr. Figo Awonekai stresses the importance of healthy political competition within a party, emphasizing that it allows for the selection of the most qualified and dedicated candidates.

The NPP candidate asserts that the failure of the NDC to foster internal competition in Bolgatanga Central has resulted in an unchecked exercise of power Mr. Adongo is exhibiting, negatively impacting the development of the Bolgatanga-Central constituency.

Mr. Awonekai, however, calls on constituents to reconsider their support for Adongo, citing the incumbent MP’s purported failure to address the pressing needs of the community.

“I’m committed to a more collaborative and development-focused leadership style. Also, I promise to prioritize the interests of the Bolgatanga-Central constituency.”
