The Member of Parliament for the Bolgatanga East constituency in the Upper East Region, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has provided three communities with potable drinking water.

The three communities include Asonga-Kunkua, Pologo, and Dachio. Speaking to the media and community members at the Asonga-Kunkua community, Dr. Ayine said he deems access to potable drinking water, basic health care, as well as basic education, as a fundamental human right, hence his continued support in the areas over the years.

He mentioned that the three boreholes add up to 76 boreholes he has provided to his constituents since 2013.

“Today I am commissioning three boreholes; this is a second one. We have commissioned one in Pologo, and from here [Asonga-Kunkua], we would be going to Dachio to hand over one to one of the Dachio communities. So far, in the entire constituency, this is the 75th borehole that I have done since 2013 when I became the MP for Bolga – East, and the 76th one will again be this evening in Dachio.”

“For me, it is a question of access to water being a basic human right. So I have taken water as a social service very seriously; I have taken education very seriously, and I have taken health very seriously. And these are things for me, non-negotiable rights that we have to ensure that the people have access.”

The Bolgatanga East lawmaker further dismissed the assertion that he has not lived up to the expectations of the constituents. Dr. Ayine said he has done a lot for the constituents both in government and in opposition, and the records are available to that effect. The Bolgatanga-East MP challenges anyone, including the NPP, to bring out records of the government in the constituency that can match his.

Some residents from the beneficiary communities thanked the MP for providing them with safe drinking water.
