The Parliamentary Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bolgatanga East Constituency, Mr. Silas Mathew, has urged the incumbent Member of Parliament, Dr. Dominic Ayine, to shift towards issue-based campaigns by accounting to the constituents for the infrastructural development in the area, rather than resorting to name-calling.

According to him, the constituents need to know the progress of development that their MP has brought to them after his 12 years in parliament and why they should give him the mandate.

“Politics is about ideas; it is about elevating the growth of the constituents and the constituency as well. He (Dr. Ayine) should be accounting to constituents for what he has done for them during those 12 years in parliament,” he said.

Mr. Silas, who was speaking at a health screening event organized by Dr. Nidia Adongo aged in the area, emphasized the importance of focusing on ideas and infrastructural developments that can benefit the constituents.

He said, “I can boast of some projects that I have done for the people, and they are impacting their lives; boreholes, to mention a few.”

“I’m a Parliamentary Candidate to start with,” he said, highlighting the need for political discourse that addresses the concerns and aspirations of the people.

He stressed that a campaign should be an opportunity for candidates to showcase their proposed development projects and visions for the constituency rather than engaging in cheap talks that have no growth for the area.

Mr. Silas urged Dr. Ayine to provide a detailed account of the development projects he “claims” to have undertaken for the constituents, as they deserve to know the tangible impact of his 12 years in parliament.

He, therefore, encouraged voters to scrutinize the track record of Dr. Ayine, evaluating his past contributions and plans for the future before making any decisions.
