Aspiring Member of Parliament for the National Democratic Congress in Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo, has said the former Chairman of the biggest New Patriotic Party in the Upper East Region late Adam Mahama was not a Ghanaian.
Mr. Adongo was fending off criticism that he had sowed seeds of ethnocentrism in the National Democratic Congress in the Upper East region on Accra-based TV3, Tuesday.
The National Democratic Congress’ aspirant for Bolgatanga mentioned that Bolgatanga central is an accommodating constituency which respects everybody regardless of where one comes from indicating that people are just blowing the issue of ethnocentrism out of proportion because they have lost elections.
Mr. Adongo noted that the region has had a New Patriotic Party chairman who was not a Ghanaian but had a massive following such that no one could have contested him in an election and won.
“Bolga has never been an ethnocentric community and Bolga respects everybody. We do have an NPP Chairman that nobody could have contested an election and won with him and he was not even a Ghanaian.”
The MP aspirant added that the deceased Adam Mahama enjoyed massive following and it was after he died that people of Bolgatanga realized he was not a native and also not a Ghanaian.

“Our big brother Adam Mahama who would have contested him and won and yet he was not even from Bolga and not even a Ghanaian. He only died for people of Bolgatanga to know that he is not a Ghanaian.
He added that it was unfortunate that his opponent Lawyer Abraham Amaliba has become an authority on ethnocentrism in Bolgatanga because nothing like that is in the constituency adding that he needs to accept defeat because he is the one the people want and have given him the mandate.
“It is unfortunate that Abraham Amaliba is becoming an authority on ethnocentrism in Bolga. There is no ethnocentrism, you have lost and that it is.”
