Upper East RFA boss appointed as deputy chairman of Black Queens Committee

The chairman of the Upper East Regional Football Association has been appointed as the vice chairperson of the Black Queens Management Committee.

Chairman Salifu Shaibu Zida, popularly known in the football scenes as Salyman, is arguably one of the longest-serving Regional Football Association (RFA) chairmen, as well as football administrators in the country.

Over the years, Salyman has gathered much knowledge and experience in football after serving in both the defunct Nyantakyi and Kurt GFA executive committees.

The four-time RFA boss had the opportunity to serve on the management committees of various national teams, including being the chairman of the managing boards of the national under-17 girls’ team and the male national under-17 team.

On Thursday, April 8, 2021, the Upper East Regional Football Association Chairman replaced Vice President Mark Addo, who had been in charge of the national male U-17 team since 2019 as Chairman of the Black Starlets Management Committee.

Under the auspices of Mr. Zida, the Upper East Region can now boast of having the Kurt Okraku FIFA gold project international standard Astroturf located at Winkogo Bolga.

Mr. Zida will serve under the Bankroller of Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League side Berry Ladies and GFA Executive Member, Dr. Gifty Oware-Mensah, who has also been endorsed as the Chairperson for the Management Committee of the Black Queens.

The endorsement comes in the wake of the announcement of a five-member committee for Ghana’s National Women’s Football Team.

Other members of the committee are Rose Osei Bonsu, Nana Fosu Gyeabour II, and ASP Naomi Abdulai.

The Black Queens are three-time silver medalists at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
