Popular Ghanaian Reggae musician Blakk Rasta is calling on Ghanaians, particularly young people, to demonstrate patriotism towards the country. Speaking with Ital on A1 Radio’s City Bus, as part of his Dear Ghana Tour, the musician said, “On my Dear Ghana tour, we are sharing words of patriotism and trying to plead with people to be patriotic and hold on to the tenets of Ghana so that one day, we would all be happy to call ourselves Ghanaians.”

Blakk Rasta expressed strong sentiments of disappointment because, “we have lost it [when it comes to patriotism].”

He explained that the loss of patriotism was particularly evident in religious centers.

“When a prophet comes and says, those here or out there, if you want to go to America, come and tap into the anointing or come and put money under their [the prophets’] feet, the whole church is empty. Everyone wants to go to America.”

Blakk Rasta said, “I am sad,” stressing that the country had sunk so low. He added that the country does not award patriots, “All we are interested in is electing thieves and awarding them, celebrating them for being corrupt and calling them smart instead of us calling them thieves.”

As part of the Dear Ghana tour, Blakk Rasta is visiting Senior High Schools across the country, reminding students of their patriotic duties to the country through conscious reggae music.
