“At the appropriate time, when we start the campaign, he will know his level. We will sing the song ‘I know my level’ for him [Mathew Silas Amoah].” These are the words of the Bolgatanga East lawmaker, Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine. His comments were directed at the governing New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate, Mathew Silas Amoah.
After Mathew Amoah was endorsed by the NPP in the Bolgatanga East constituency as their parliamentary candidate, he started embarking on some developmental initiatives in the area. This led many, including members of the NPP, to suggest that Dr. Ayine is under pressure, resulting in him taking some initiatives, including drilling boreholes.
But speaking to journalists after handing over a borehole to the people of Yarigabisi as part of his recent ten-borehole initiative for ten communities, Dr. Ayine described such suggestions as unfortunate. According to the former Attorney General, he started developing Bolgatanga East before the NPP candidate was anywhere to be found. Therefore, he called on people who have the idea that he thinks about Mr. Amoah to rethink.
“As I speak with you now, I don’t have any high blood pressure. When I go home, I eat my TZ safely and sleep. I don’t think of him [Mathew Amoah] at all. If anybody thinks I sleep and think about Mathew Silas, I don’t.”
Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine became the first Member of Parliament for the Bolgatanga East constituency after its creation in 2012. Dr. Ayine is seeking re-election on 7th December later this year, and he would be facing the NPP parliamentary candidate, Mathew Silas Amoah.
But when A1 News contacted Ateera Abubakar Ayimbila, the NPP Communications Officer for the Bolgatanga East constituency, whom Dr. Ayine mentioned as one of the people claiming that he is under pressure because of their candidate, Ayimbila insisted that the Bolgatanga East MP is pretending, but he is under heavy pressure.
