Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, the new Upper East Regional Minister, has emphasized the diverse and complex nature of the region, stating that it poses various challenges that require special attention and leadership.

He made these remarks during a courtesy call on paramount chiefs in the region following his appointment by President Nana Akufo-Addo.

The minister indicated that the region’s diversity comprises different ethnic groups and faces numerous socio-economic challenges. According to him, President Akufo-Addo entrusted him with the responsibility of overseeing the affairs of the Upper East Region after a careful assessment of its needs and challenges.

“The Upper East Region has a population of more than 1.3 million. We have various ethnic groups here; the region is not only complex but also diverse with a lot of problems and challenges. But accessing the problems and challenges in the region, His Excellency thought it necessary to bring me here because he believes that I am the right person for the job in the Upper East as of now,” he stated.

While admitting that he may not be able to address all the problems of the region, Dr. Hafiz called for support from the chiefs for cooperation to solve the region’s challenges. The minister, who was speaking at the palace of the Sekote chief, assured him of his commitment to working closely with them to address the various issues affecting their respective communities.

Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih assumed the role of Upper East Regional Minister after a recent reshuffle by President Akufo-Addo, which saw him swapping positions with Stephen Yakubu, the former Upper East Regional Minister. Stephen Yakubu, who previously held the position, has been reassigned as the Upper West Regional Minister.

The new minister, who previously served as the Upper West Regional Minister, expressed optimism about the prospects of the region under his leadership and pledged to prioritize development initiatives that would improve the lives of residents.
