The Bolgatanga chapter of the Bimoba Youth Association (BIYA) held its 2024 get-together event with a strong call for peace and unity among its members and the wider community ahead of the December 7 elections.

The event, which brought together scores of Bimoba youth and other ethnic groups who reside in Bolgatanga, focused on promoting unity and peaceful coexistence among each other.

The Bolgatanga chapter Chairman of BIYA, Duut Joseph Yennukua, in his address, urged the youth to be ambassadors of peace and unity in their respective communities.

“Although Ghana is a peaceful country, misinformation, disinformation, and falsehood in an election year can lead to a breakdown of peace and unity in the country. I, therefore, call on politicians, individuals, as well as journalists, to guard against tendencies that promote political violence, just like what happened in Rwanda years ago.”

“I will entreat Religious Organizations, Civil Society Organizations, and Professional Bodies to preach peace before, during, and after the 2024 election. This is the only country we have. Let’s not allow dirty politics to destroy it for us.”

The Member of Parliament for the Bunkpurugu constituency, Dr. Abed-nego Bandim, who graced the event, re-echoed the importance of peace in the country before, during, and after the election.

The NDC parliamentary candidate admonished civil society organizations to call on the NPP government to hand over peacefully if they lose the election on December 7th.

On his part, the former Member of Parliament for the Bunkpurugu constituency, who is the NPP parliamentary candidate for the area, Solomon N. Boar, applauded the youth for organizing the event, which he believes would foster togetherness among them.

The former Minister, Mr. Boar, emphasized that his track record signifies his ability to manage all aspects of development in the constituency.
