Bolga residents shopping at wrong places, reason for high cost of tomatoes, peppers – Issah Sanusi

Former Upper East Regional Communication Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Issah Sanusi, has said the many complaints from market-goers about the rising prices of food products like tomatoes and pepper have come because many residents purchase these food products from the wrong places.

According to Mr. Sanusi, he has knowledge of where to get the aforementioned food ingredients at cheaper prices.

“It depends on where you also buy your items. Next time you want to buy tomatoes and you want to get 5 for GH¢10, call me. Take my number, and when you want tomatoes, I would show you where to get them,” he said.

Responding to comments around the government’s One Village One Dam’s inability to transform farming in northern Ghana from seasonal to an all-year-round venture, Mr. Sanusi said, “If the government has built the dam for you, and you have not sown tomatoes, how has the government failed?”

“I have gone to Winkambo, and I saw the 1V1D. If you have not sown peppers or tomatoes or anything else, how does that become the government’s problem?”

Mr. Sanusi denied reports that suggested that the dams can only be used for watering animals of residents and not irrigation farming because of their sizes and depths.

Meanwhile, Mr. Sanusi, is convinced that only God can determine when the average Ghanaian would not be overwhelmed with the current economic situation and be comfortable.

Mr. Sanusi explained that despite the strain that the global pandemic had put on the local economy, the government had remained steadfast in promoting policies that would bring the economy back on track.

He admitted that some of the policies, like the One District One Factory, had not yielded the desired results but was quick to add that this was because many of the policies are long-term policies that may take time to come to full fruition.
