Dr. Emmanuel Bortey Borketey, Founder and CEO of Charger Limited, celebrated his birthday with a donation to the Mama Lardi Children’s Home in Bolgatanga, Upper East Region.
The donation, made under the auspices of the Happy Man Foundation, Charger Limited’s Corporate Social Responsibility wing, included packs of assorted foodstuffs, groceries, water, beverages, toiletries, and detergents valued at 8,000 cedis, along with a cash gift of 2,000 cedis.
Azongo Albert, a Media Consultant for Charger Limited who led a team to present the donation on behalf of Dr. Borketey, conveyed the CEO’s heartfelt message to the children.
“Dr. Borketey is always mindful of the needs of children, especially the underprivileged,” Albert said. “This is why he reaches out to them every year on his birthday. He is committed to building a business model that not only focuses on growth but also directly benefits individuals and communities in need.”
The donation ceremony was marked by expressions of gratitude from the staff and children of Mama Lardi Children’s Home.
The home, which provides shelter and care for orphaned and vulnerable children, is among other beneficiary homes of Dr. Borketey’s philanthropic efforts over the years in the Upper East Region. In 2022, for instance, he made similar donations to God’s Love Residential Home at Soe in the Bolgatanga Municipality, and Timataaba Children’s Home at Gbeogo in the Talensi District.
Speaking to the caretakers and children at the Mama Lardi Children’s Home, Azongo added that the CEO of Charger Limited believes his current situation is by God’s grace, hence his decision to extend a helping hand to the less privileged, especially on the occasion of his birthday.
“He says, in this world, if you have life, you have everything. He was also poor, he was once like you, a young person, and God has blessed him to reach where he is today. In the future, some of you here are going to be much greater than he is, and he believes that for him to be celebrating his birthday today, it is just by the grace of God,” Azongo added.
The children and caregivers at the home were delighted with the gifts, which they say will significantly enhance their daily living conditions. Charger Limited is the producer of Happy Man Bitters, Black Legend Coffee Gin, and HM Life Mixture, an immune booster.
