Lamisi Adene Kumordzie, National Coordinator of the Global Movement of Pan-African Women, has called on parents to prioritize their children’s basic needs, healthcare, and fundamental rights.

She made this appeal during the International Day of the African Child conference held at the Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School in Bolgatanga.

The International Day of the African Child is a momentous occasion dedicated to highlighting the challenges faced by children across the African continent and advocating for their rights, protection, and well-being.

Speaking at the conference, Mrs. Kumordzie stressed the need for parents to prioritize their children’s emotional and psychological well-being, providing them with a safe and nurturing environment at all times.

“In addition to education, we must prioritize the health and wellbeing of our children. Access to proper nutrition and healthcare is very key. The environment and the fundamental rights of every child are very crucial.”

The conference was attended by parents, educators, and community leaders from across the region. The event featured discussions, speeches, and cultural performances, all focused on promoting the rights and well-being of African children.

It was supported by Seword Multimedia, Dukcool Mineral Water, Pixels Embassy, management of Bolgatanga Girls SHS, Regional Coordinating Council (RCC), and Chiefs and Queen mothers in the Upper East region.

The Paramount Chief of the Bongo Traditional Area, Bonaba Baba Salifu Lemyaarum, who chaired the conference, called on children to be respectful and disciplined for them to achieve academic success and personal growth.

Speaking on behalf of the Upper East Regional Minister, Alhaji Abubakar Inusah, Chief Director of the Upper East Regional Coordinating Council, called on stakeholders to do all they can to ensure that children of school-going age are in school.
