Renowned songwriter and singer Stevo Atambire has announced plans for an expanded “Saa Woo” Festival this October, promising an unforgettable experience for fans and residents of the Upper East Region.

He revealed that he will be inviting acclaimed musician Medikal, whom he regards as a close friend and “brother from another mother,” to perform at the festival.

“Medikal is a brother, and I believe in and love his craft. Bringing him to the region will be fantastic,” he said, expressing his enthusiasm for the collaboration.

The “Saa Woo” Festival, which translates to “rain” in the local dialect, aims to promote and redefine the cultural heritage of Nayorigo, a community in the Bongo District of the Upper East Region, where Atambire hails from.

The festival has grown significantly since its inception, celebrating its sixth edition this year.

In a conversation with Moses Apiah after a radio interview on A1 Radio, the singer emphasized that the festival is his way of giving back to his community for their unwavering support and contributions.

He highlighted the festival’s role in shining a spotlight on Nayorigo and driving development in the area.

“Celebrating Saa Woo for the sixth time in the community, I believe will bring the needed development to the people. Last year, for instance, our focus was on unearthing young people’s artistic talents through painting and drawing and providing free health screenings. But this year will be much bigger and better,” he stated.

The festival’s previous editions have successfully showcased the rich cultural heritage and artistic talents of Nayorigo.

Last year’s focus on nurturing young artists and providing health services underscored the festival’s commitment to holistic community development.

This year’s event promises to build on that foundation, with even more diverse activities and performances.

The inclusion of Medikal, a popular figure in the Ghanaian music industry, is expected to draw even larger crowds and further elevate the festival’s profile.

Atambire further explained that the “Saa Woo” Festival not only celebrates the cultural identity of Nayorigo but also serves as a platform for fostering community cohesion and development.
