The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Upper East Regional Women’s Organizer, Fawzia Yakubu Abagnamah, has expressed strong confidence that the party will secure a decisive victory in the Bongo constituency seat in the upcoming December elections. She predicts that the Bongo constituency will be the first to be declared in favor of the NDC in the region.
Speaking on the ‘Zina Yela’ program on A1 Radio, Madam Abagnamah emphasized that while the NDC aims to win all 15 constituencies in the Upper East Region, the Bongo seat, currently contested by Diana Aburiya Asuure of the NPP and Lawyer Charles Bawa-Dua of the NDC, requires minimal campaign effort for an NDC victory.
“The NDC will not struggle or need to do much campaigning before winning the Bongo seat,” she asserted. “The government of the day, which Madam Aburiya represents, has not met the expectations of the Bongo constituents. Therefore, the people will vote for the NDC based on the track record of our past and present MPs.”
The NDC has had a monopoly in the Bongo constituency, winning against all other political parties since 1992, which she believes is a testament to the NDC’s longstanding commitment and development it has brought to the constituency.
“My confidence that we will win again is not because a woman represents the NPP but because of the NDC’s track record in the constituency over the years,” she explained.
Fawzia Yakubu also criticized the NPP’s performance in the constituency, arguing that the current government has failed to deliver on its promises, thereby alienating the constituents.
