Anthony Namoo, Upper East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has praised the 15 constituencies in the region for their warm welcome of the Vice President during his recent tour, despite the busy farming season.
Mr. Namoo highlighted the Vice President’s success in engaging the youth through his job creation plans, which have sparked considerable enthusiasm among the younger population.
He emphasized that while the size of the crowd is notable, it is not a definitive measure of support, especially when compared to the registered voter base in Bolga Central.
“For the crowd, it’s enthusiasm. The crowd doesn’t signify anything because you cannot even measure it with the registered voter population in Bolga Central,” he said during an interview on A1 Radio on Wednesday morning.
He further stated that during the tour, the Vice President outlined his plans to integrate chieftaincy into governance more closely, including proposals to provide allowances to paramount chiefs, divisional chiefs, and queen mothers, recognizing their important roles in the community.
“He highlighted how he wants to bring chieftaincy closer to governance, support them, and even pay allowances to the Paramount Chiefs, Divisional Chiefs, and Queen Mothers so that they can also get something befitting their status.”
He said as the Vice President concludes his visit, preparations for the upcoming campaign are set to begin, marking the start of a new phase in regional political activities. “Once the Vice President leaves the constituency, the campaign begins,” he noted.
