John Dramani Mahama, the presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has pledged to construct a fully equipped district hospital for the people of Bawku if he is elected in the upcoming December 7th elections.

This commitment was made during his first national campaign tour in Bawku, in the Upper East Region.

Addressing a large crowd at the Bawku Naba Palace, Mr. Mahama explained the critical need for a well-equipped government hospital in Bawku.

He highlighted that such a facility would significantly enhance the quality of healthcare delivery in the area.

“A well-furnished district hospital will not only improve healthcare services but also reduce the economic burdens faced by residents,” Mr. Mahama stated.

He added that many residents are currently compelled to travel to the regional capital, Bolgatanga, to access adequate healthcare, which he said incurs additional costs and inconvenience.

The new hospital is expected to provide a wide range of medical services, thereby reducing the need for long-distance travel for specialized treatments.

In addition to the new hospital, Mahama vowed to complete the abandoned Garu District hospital project.

He pointed out that this project had commenced during his previous tenure but was left unfinished.

“It is our responsibility to ensure that all started projects are brought to completion. The Garu District hospital will be completed to serve our people,” he assured.
