Mahama Ayariga, the Member of Parliament and parliamentary candidate for the Bawku Central Constituency, has urged voters in the Bolgatanga East Constituency to be vigilant against the alleged use of stolen funds by their opponent from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Addressing a crowd during the National Democratic Congress (NDC) campaign tour in the area, Ayariga alleged that the NPP parliamentary candidate is using stolen funds to influence voters, and thus they [the electorate] should not be swayed by such actions.

“We understand our opponent is spreading money. Our candidate is an opposition candidate; we can’t match them with stolen money,” Mr. Ayariga stated.

He urged voters to accept the money if offered but to avoid voting for the NPP candidates, labeling the funds as tainted.

“Our people say the hen has learned to eat and clean its mouth and still do what it wants. So, when they bring the money, take it, but don’t vote for them because it is stolen money,” he added.

The legislator endorsed Dr. Dominic Ayine and former President John Mahama as the ideal choices for the constituency, emphasizing their commitment to genuine development.

He criticized the NPP for lacking pro-poor policies and interventions that would benefit the local population.

“If the NPP comes to deceive you with their skirt and blouse, don’t listen to them,” Mr. Ayariga implored.

He further argued that the NDC’s policies are better suited to improving the livelihoods of Bolgatanga East residents.
