The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Secretariat in Bongo has strongly condemned an incident involving supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Namoo. According to a press release issued by Johnson Ayikene Anaane, the constituency secretary, the NPP expressed deep disappointment and outrage over an event on Monday, August 5th, where NDC supporters dressed a goat in party paraphernalia and symbolically declared their intention to vote for the animal if it were to contest on the NDC’s ticket.

The NPP described the act as a grave insult to the intelligence of the constituents, accusing the NDC of showing blatant disregard for the people of Bongo, who have loyally supported the party for over three decades. The NPP’s statement emphasized that this stunt is a clear indication of the NDC’s failure to deliver on development promises, despite holding the parliamentary seat for eight successive election cycles.

The press release highlighted the NPP’s ongoing commitment to the development of the Bongo Constituency, contrasting its achievements in the region with what it called the NDC’s neglect. The NPP outlined various completed and ongoing infrastructure projects initiated by the party since 2017, including the construction of roads, educational facilities, healthcare centers, and the provision of clean water through boreholes and mechanized water systems.

The statement concluded by urging constituents to prioritize tangible development over party loyalty and to hold their leaders accountable for the lack of progress in the region. The NPP called for a shift towards politics centered on development and accountability, urging constituents to vote for Madam Diana Asuure Abureya as their Member of Parliament and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as president in the upcoming general election.
