Joseph Anokye, widely known as Joe Anokye, was appointed the Acting General Director of the National Communications Authority on 24th January 2017. He was confirmed on 15th January, 2018.
In 2017, he was recognized as the Best Telecommunications Industry Chief Executive Officer in the public sector for his leadership in the technology industry.
With a background in geodetic engineering and technology, Mr. Anokye brought a wealth of international experience to the role.
Mr. Anokye holds a bachelor’s degree from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Ghana and an MBA from the University of Maryland Global Campus in the United States.
His career spans over two decades, including significant work with NASA in the United States. From 1997 to 2016, Mr. Anokye worked on various contracts at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland, where he served as a Senior Telecommunications Consultant and supervised the Telecommunication Wide Area Network technical team.
In 2007, Mr. Anokye received the Employee of the Year Award from the NASA Information Technology Services Contract at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Alabama for his exceptional technical services.
Upon returning to Ghana, Mr. Anokye provided consulting services to several organizations, including Merchant Bank, Ghana Telecom, and the National Security agency, focusing on telecommunication network projects.
He has also completed the Senior Executives in National and International Security Program at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.
Anokye’s appointment to the NCA is seen as a significant step in advancing Ghana’s telecommunications and technology sectors, given his extensive experience and international recognition in the field.
