Louis Marie Ayariga, a software engineer, has emphasized the need to address gender disparities in technology and highlighted the importance of comprehensive needs assessments and training to support all individuals, regardless of gender.
He stressed the value of equal opportunities but noted that equal outcomes should not be an automatic expectation.
Mr. Ayariga underscored that technology is not exclusive to any gender and encouraged youth to pursue tech careers without feeling pressured to abandon their current jobs.
He also pointed out the significant role of agriculture and artificial intelligence (AI) in transforming various sectors, including education and analytics. “While we are teaching people to use this AI tool, we also need to teach them how to use it effectively.”
He advocated for the responsible use of AI, emphasizing the need for ethical training alongside technical skills. “We have to understand when to use AI and when not to use it as we learn. It’s not just about teaching people how to use it but also incorporating the ethical considerations.”
He called for the establishment of tech hubs to facilitate training and collaboration among individuals, helping them identify their strengths and work together effectively.
Mr. Ayariga urged the youth to actively engage in skill-building and apply their skills to contribute positively to society, stressing that proactive involvement is key to securing their future.
