The Kologo music legend Stevo Atambire has responded to critics who questioned his decision to perform during Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s recent visit to the Upper East Region.
The musician, known for his deep roots in traditional music and his popularity in the region, addressed the controversy surrounding his participation in the event.
In a candid statement, Stevo Atambire clarified that his performance was purely a business decision, unlinked to any political affiliations.
“I follow the person who knows the road,” Atambire said, indicating that his involvement was strictly professional. “My performance during the visit of the Vice President and Flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Bawumia, was purely business. I respect tradition, and any political party who comes for my talent will definitely get it, and I will perform for such a person.”
His comments suggest a pragmatic approach to his craft, where cultural respect and professional opportunity coexist, highlighting the often-complex relationship between artists and politics, especially in regions where cultural figures hold significant influence.
In a light-hearted addition to his response, he hinted at a possible future in politics, jokingly mentioning his intention to run for Member of Parliament as an independent candidate under the banner of a “Rising Youth Party.”
