In a heartfelt appeal on his popular drivetime show “Sunset Drive” on A1 Radio 101.1MHz, Phatbone De 5star General, the charismatic host from Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region, urged Ghanaians to rally behind John Peasah, fondly known as Drogba.

This comes after Drogba wrote on his Instagram wall on August 14, 2024: “Unfortunately I’m not responding to current treatment and have been spending all my resources, which are almost depleted.”

Highlighting Drogba’s memorable role in the beloved series “Yolo,” De 5Star General emphasized how the character resonated deeply with audiences, especially the youth.

“When we talk about John Peasah, aka Drogba, remember the ‘Yolo’ series? It was a hit, especially among the youth. Drogba’s portrayal added so much spice to the show; he truly brought the character to life,” Phatbone passionately expressed.

Reflecting on Drogba’s impact, Phatbone likened him to an indispensable action hero, noting, “In an action movie, he would be the ‘they never die’ character, always leaving a lasting impression.”

In March 2024, it was revealed that John Peasah was battling a serious health condition called demyelination, which affects the nervous system and can impact vision, coordination, and sensation.

Drogba expressed gratitude to friends, family, and the Vice President of Ghana for their generous donations and gifts. He, however, emphasized the urgent need for more funds to cover the cost of specialized treatment abroad.

Turning to the current situation, Phatbone appealed to listeners to show their support for Drogba in his time of need. “Let’s come together and make a difference. Even from our own corners, every contribution counts,” he urged. He then provided details for donations, encouraging listeners to use mobile money services to assist Drogba.

“To contribute, you can send your support via MTN Mobile Money to the number 0535934031 under the name Hannah Mensa. For Vodafone users, the number is 0502776169, under the name John Bredu Peasah,” Phatbone informed his attentive audience.
