The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Talensi District, Robert Ayindenaba Alibo, has emphasized the need for local solutions to address the persistent issue of youth unemployment in the area.

Speaking on A1 Radio, Alibo underscored that youth unemployment is a significant local issue that requires innovative, localized approaches for effective resolution.

Alibo proposed establishing a “local skills data bank,” a system designed to collect and organize information about the skills and qualifications of the youth in Talensi. He explained that this database would be a crucial tool for matching job opportunities with the skills of local youth, making it easier for employers to connect with potential employees.

“No government can create all the jobs for the entire youth of the country,” Alibo stated. “That is why, as a leader, or if given the mandate to lead the people of Talensi, I will, together with local leaders, elders, and those in the diaspora, create a local skills data bank. This system will compile information about our youth for easy access and job recommendations.”

Alibo also expressed his intention to engage with members of the Talensi diaspora, seeking their support for the development and implementation of this initiative. He believes their contributions could be pivotal in creating new job opportunities and fostering economic development within the district.

The NPP candidate’s proposal highlights the importance of community-driven efforts to combat unemployment and underscores the potential of leveraging local knowledge and resources to create sustainable solutions for the youth.
