In a surprising move, Francis Ayadago, the 2020 parliamentary candidate for the Liberty Party of Ghana (LPG) in the Bolgatanga Central constituency, has defected to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Ayadago made the announcement when he joined the incumbent Member of Parliament for the constituency, Isaac Adongo, to file his parliamentary nomination forms at the Electoral Commission office in Bolgatanga.
The former LPG candidate expressed his enthusiasm for his new political home, citing the NDC’s commitment to development and social justice as reasons for his defection. Mr. Ayadago has pledged full commitment and readiness to support efforts to increase the NDC’s vote share in the constituency.
“I believe in their policies; they have a long-term vision for the people of Ghana, and I am confident they can turn things around. Particularly, I support their 24-hour economy policy. While some may not fully understand it, I believe in it and understand what they mean. Joining them is the best decision. As the saying goes, together we are always stronger,” he stated.
In the 2020 parliamentary election, Francis Ayadago received 237 votes, representing 0.4 percent, in his first attempt with the LPG.
Isaac Adongo, the incumbent MP, and the party welcomed Ayadago to the NDC, praising his decision as a significant boost to the party.
