Mary Awinimi Ayariga, crowned Miss Agriculture Ghana 2024, is making a significant impact beyond the beauty pageant scene. As a passionate advocate for agripreneurship and youth empowerment, she is dedicated to shaping the future of agriculture in Ghana.
Currently a student at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Mary also serves as the Women Commissioner for the Toende Students Union and is a co-founder of MASCO Innovations.
Recently, she visited Zebilla Senior High Technical School , where she engaged with final-year female students preparing for their WASSCE exams, which conclude on the 20th of this month.
“My goal was to inspire these young women about life after school and the potential of agripreneurship,” Mary said when she spoke to A1 Radio’s Portia Dogbe. “With the right support and guidance, they can turn their ideas into successful ventures.”
During her visit, Mary distributed jotters to encourage students to jot down their business ideas and aspirations. “It’s crucial for them to revisit these dreams regularly and work diligently toward achieving them,” she emphasized.
Mary also pledged to support these students in their entrepreneurial journeys, offering coaching and mentoring to help them realize their visions. “With the support of everyone here, we can create a strong network that empowers our youth,” she added.
In addition to her advocacy, Mary recently completed a transformative three-week Youth Climate Leadership Training of Trainers program organized by the Green Africa Youth Organisation (GAYO). Sponsored by Climate Action Africa and funded by the Canadian government, the program aims to equip young leaders with skills to address pressing environmental challenges.
Mary’s multifaceted role as a leader, mentor, and advocate is paving the way for a new generation of empowered youth in Ghana. Her commitment to agripreneurship and environmental sustainability inspires hope and ambition among many young women across the region.
