The President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, is expected to visit the Upper East Region on Tuesday, October 1, for an engagement with key stakeholders. In line with his visit, the Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the region, Peter Ayinbisa, has underscored that the President’s agenda includes discussions with various groups, such as the Regional House of Chiefs, the Peace Council, church representatives, and unions, ensuring broad representation of the community at the event.

“All manners of associations in this region have been given the opportunity to sit in and have a conversation with the President.”

He expressed enthusiasm about the President’s continued dedication and regular visits to the region, even as his term nears its end. “This is almost the 16th time that he’s visiting the region. He loves the people of the Upper East Region. There has not been a single president who has visited the Upper East Region like President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. I am so excited that, even as he heads towards the end of his tenure, he still makes time to visit the people of this region,” he said.

Mr. Ayinbisa anticipates that the program, scheduled to commence at 3 PM at the GNAT Hall, will foster dialogue on pressing issues, including the ongoing fight against illegal mining. He indicated that the President might also reflect on his administration’s achievements over the past four years, providing accountability to the people. “I’m sure the President might touch on the galamsey fight that we have started. He’ll urge all of us to be hardworking. He might also seize the opportunity to account to the good people of the Upper East Region about his stewardship and what he has done over the last four years,” he added.

According to him, the event is expected to be a unifying occasion, with venue decorations featuring the Ghana flag, symbolizing national cohesion. Mr. Ayinbisa also noted that this engagement differs from typical political gatherings, as it welcomes participation from various political affiliations, emphasizing its national significance. “One good thing I have observed from last night up to this point is that this is not going to be the usual political program, where only NPP people come to grace occasions. This is going to be a program of national nature.”

Following the Upper East engagement, he asserts that the President will continue his tour, with plans for a similar program in the Upper West Region on Wednesday, October 2. “I’m aware that tomorrow, the President is going to be in the Upper West Region to hold a similar program.”

He reiterated his confidence that President Akufo-Addo will ensure a peaceful transition of power to the next elected leader, whom he believes will be Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. “The President will hand over power peacefully to whoever wins the elections on December 7, and I know, and I’m very certain that that person will be Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.”
