The Upper East Regional Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Peter Ayinbisa Ayamga, says no government would be able to fulfill all pledges made ahead of an election.
He made this statement while acknowledging that as the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration comes to an end, some of their promises have yet to be fulfilled. Mr. Ayamga was, however, quick to add that the NDC’s record in fulfilling campaign promises pales in comparison to that of the NPP.
He stated that the NPP has been able to fulfill more than 80 percent of all promises under the current administration. He spoke on the Day Break Upper East Show on A1 Radio in response to the NDC’s Head of Legal Affairs, Godwin Edudzi Tamaklo, who had stated that because the current government had failed to fulfill some of its promises, the NPP should be voted out.
“John Mahama promised to build a stadium for us; where is the stadium? He promised to build a polyclinic for the people of this region; where is the polyclinic? Look, no government can deliver on all the promises made in the manifesto. We have fulfilled about 83 percent of our manifesto promises. They managed to fulfill just below 25 percent of theirs,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mr. Ayamga expressed his belief that for any individual to properly represent constituents in Parliament, that individual must be able to speak a language common to the people of the area.
This is why he believes voters in the Talensi Constituency will choose Robert Alibo, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate, over Daniel Dung Mahama, the NDC’s Parliamentary Candidate.
