The Ghana-India Kofi Annan ICT Centre is set to launch a new training initiative aimed at enhancing digital skills across the country. Spearheaded by the Centre’s Upper East Regional Manager, Christian Danso, the program is part of the Ghana Digital Accelerated Project under the Ministry of Communications.

With over twenty years of experience in capacity building, Mr. Danso noted that the Centre operates three facilities, including its headquarters in Accra, as well as locations in Sunyani and Bolgatanga.

The E-Skill for Jobs project, he explained, aims to bridge the gap in digital skill access for underserved communities.

“We are a capacity-building agency under the Ministry of Communication and Digitisation. Our mandate is to provide quality capacity-building services, advisory services, and research and innovation services to Ghanaians and the general public. The E-Skill for Jobs project is a component of the Ghana Digital Accelerated Projects under the Ministry of Communications, Government of Ghana. It seeks to bridge the gap between the served and the underserved when it comes to digital skills.”

According to him, the first phase of the initiative will cover ten regions, including Greater Accra, Ashanti, Central, and Upper East. He underscored that the training will encompass various subjects such as word processing, artificial intelligence, digital marketing, graphic design, multimedia technologies, and cybersecurity operations.

Furthermore, Mr. Nansong stated that the program is fully funded and free of charge, adding that it is designed to support a diverse group of participants, focusing on women, people with disabilities, residents of remote areas, artisans, and unemployed youth. “We are looking at women, people with disabilities, residents of very remote areas, artisans, and unemployed youth as well.”

He also noted that the initiative has no age restrictions, welcoming anyone who is interested and qualified to participate. “Fortunately, there is no age limit. Once you are available, qualified, and have the zeal, we are open.”

The Centre is committed to fostering job creation and providing opportunities for individuals to enhance their skills in the evolving digital landscape. “We are looking forward to creating opportunities and jobs as well,” he said.
