Rockson Bukari, a former Upper East Regional Minister and Minister of State, has advised the youth in the Bolgatanga East constituency to carefully consider their choices in the upcoming 2024 elections.
He emphasized the importance of securing a prosperous future by voting for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate, Matthew Silas Amoah.
“The youth should remember that there is tomorrow, and for their tomorrow to be brighter, Matthew Silas Amoah, the NPP parliamentary candidate, is the way for them,” he said.
Mr. Bukari added that his concern lies with the younger generation, cautioning that supporting Dr. Dominic Ayine, the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), could be detrimental to their future.
The former regional minister accused Dr. Ayine of using his position for personal gain and neglecting the development needs of the constituency.
“If they make a mistake and vote for Dr. Ayine, he will continue using them to enrich himself,” Bukari claimed. “He doesn’t know there is tomorrow. If he did, what has he achieved in his 12 years in office? He often leaves for Accra to sit comfortably in his law chambers, forgetting the people of Bolgatanga East.”
Mr. Bukari expressed disappointment that, despite Dr. Ayine’s long tenure, the MP has allegedly failed to prioritize the community’s development.
He contrasted this with his endorsement of Amoah, whom he described as a young and energetic leader who genuinely cares for the people.
“Dr. Ayine, despite being old, lacks the heart for the people. But Silas Amoah, this young man, will not only have their development and growth at heart but will also represent their needs and wants effectively in Parliament,” Bukari asserted.
Bukari’s comments come amid growing political tension in the Bolgatanga East constituency, where both the NPP and NDC are vying for control in the 2024 general elections.
The contest in Bolgatanga East remains highly competitive, with both candidates focusing on youth-related policies, employment opportunities, and local development.
