The Bolgatanga Central Constituency Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Isaac Ayemvoa, has commended the overwhelming loyalty of constituents to the NDC brand, despite attempts by the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) to win them over with branded shirts.
Mr. Ayemvoa noted that the constituents have consistently rejected the NPP’s branded shirts, demonstrating their preference for the NDC’s apparel and association with the party.
“We’ve done one round, and wherever we went, the Organizer can testify. Our T-shirts have been something almost everybody is looking for. They tell us the NPP has been offering them their T-shirts, but they don’t like them—they prefer ours.”
According to him, while the NDC has distributed a large number of branded shirts, there is still a shortfall in meeting the high demand from constituents who proudly want to be identified with the NDC. He cited an example of a constituent who recently defected from the NPP to the NDC but chose to remain anonymous. This individual, Mr. Ayemvoa revealed, has expressed a strong desire to receive an NDC-branded shirt as a symbol of their newfound loyalty to the party.
“We’ve sent more shirts to the constituents, yet they are still asking for more. There is somebody I know who is in desperate need of these T-shirts, and he said, ‘If you don’t give me your T-shirt, then you don’t want me in your party.’ This is a known NPP person who has crossed over to our party,” he stated.
Mr. Ayemvoa, speaking during the donation of 100 branded shirts by a party member, Gavinus Anaba, to the Bolgatanga Central Constituency, said, “Some enjoy wearing our T-shirts, not just because of the T-shirts, but because of the NDC brand. And not just the brand—they associate the brand with our good works.”
Mr. Anaba’s donation, which is the first consignment of branded shirts, is expected to boost the visibility of the NDC’s parliamentary candidate, Isaac Adongo, as well as the party’s presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, ahead of the 2024 general elections. According to Mr. Anaba, the donation is also part of a larger effort to strengthen the party’s outreach and connect more deeply with voters through its branded apparel.
In receiving the shirts, Mr. Ayemvoa expressed gratitude on behalf of the constituency and emphasized that the NDC remains committed to addressing the needs of the people, a factor that he believes has solidified the party’s strong presence in the constituency.
