Campaign for Female Education Ghana (CAMFED) has announced impressive mid-year performance indicators, highlighting its ongoing commitment to empowering girls and women in Ghana.

According to CAMFED’s National Director, Fairuza Abdul-Rashid Safian, as of mid-2024, 27,406 senior high school girls have received economic support (bursaries) from CAMFED, with a total of 738,312 girls supported across the country since the organization’s inception in Ghana.

Additionally, CAMFED reported supporting 427 enterprises as of mid-2024, bringing the total number of enterprises supported since its inception to 36,364.

“Based on the mid-year key performance indicators, the number of girls receiving economic support (bursary) at the secondary level is 27,406. In total, 738,312 girls have been supported with bursaries since the beginning of CAMFED operations in Ghana. The number of enterprises supported by mid-year stands at 427, and overall, 36,364 enterprises have received support since CAMFED began operations in Ghana. As of the end of 2023, the number of CAMA members stands at 68,924,” said Madam Fairuza Abdul-Rashid Safian.

She shared this data during CAMFED’s annual media partnership meeting in Tamale, in the Northern Region, aimed at strengthening ties with the media to promote girls’ education, women’s empowerment, and enterprise development.

CAMFED has also developed a new strategic plan for the period 2024–2029. According to the Country Director, this plan builds on CAMFED’s experience and momentum to set ambitious goals. Over the six-year period, CAMFED aims to triple its impact, drawing on 30 years of successful implementation. The strategy represents a continuation, rather than a change, of CAMFED’s mission, with core components of its model organized into three levels of work remaining in place.
