The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga East, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has questioned the contributions of Nadia Adongo Fynn, Deputy Director of the Diaspora Affairs Office at the Presidency, to the development of the constituency.
Speaking on A1 Radio, Dr. Ayine accused Ms. Adongo of making false claims about his performance as MP, alleging she stated he had achieved nothing for the people of Bolgatanga East since his election.
“She is going around saying I, Dr. Ayine, have done nothing for the people of Bolgatanga East. I challenge her to pinpoint a single initiative she has brought to the constituency since her appointment to the Diaspora Affairs Office. Just one thing—despite her government being in power,” he said.
Dr. Ayine specifically called on Ms. Adongo to identify any contributions she had made to the Gambibgo community, noting that even the electricity connection to her own house had been facilitated by him.
The legislator explained that his decision to enter politics stemmed from a desire to address the developmental needs of Bolgatanga East. “I’m a lawyer, lecturer, and consultant. If I were someone who thought only of myself, I wouldn’t have joined politics. My hope and aim are to see Bolgatanga East become one of the most developed constituencies in the country,” he remarked.
Dr. Ayine emphasized his long-term vision for the constituency, which includes empowering its youth to pursue professional careers as lawyers, lecturers, doctors, engineers, and businesspeople.
He also criticized individuals in positions of power who fail to use their influence to support vulnerable groups, such as students and women, in accessing life-changing opportunities.
“Leadership should be about creating avenues for progress, not engaging in baseless criticisms. My prayer and hope are to see vibrant youth from Bolgatanga East occupying key professional roles. Unlike others who have the opportunity to help but fail, I am committed to ensuring sustainable development and opportunities for all,” Dr. Ayine concluded.
