Bolga Soe emerges victorious in Frafra Inter-Community Unity Football Tournament

The Frafra Inter-Community Unity Football Tournament concluded in thrilling fashion, with Bolga Soe Community claiming the top spot.

The exciting final match ended goalless after regulation time, leading to a penalty shootout where Bolga Soe edged Tanzui 4-3 to win the tournament for the first time in their history.

The tournament, aimed at promoting unity and friendly competition among Frafra communities, featured teams from various communities competing in a series of matches. Bolga Soe demonstrated exceptional skill, teamwork, and determination, ultimately earning their place as champions.

The victory was met with jubilation from Bolga Soe supporters, who celebrated their team’s achievement with pride.

As winners, Bolga Soe walked home with a giant trophy, a cash prize of GHC 1,000, gold medals, and 200 exercise books. Tanzui, the runners-up, received a cash prize of GHC 800, silver medals, and 500 exercise books from the organizers.

Individual Awards:

  • Most Promising Player: Ayamga Francis (Bolga Soe)

  • Top Goal Scorer: Hafiz (Bukere) – 6 goals

  • Best Goalkeeper: Mensah Carlos (Tanzui)

  • Overall Best Player: Gabriel Asampana (Bolga Soe)

Each awardee received a plaque, with Gabriel also receiving ear pods from Home Boy Trading Enterprise for his exceptional performance. Additionally, the Well-Behaved Community award went to the Nyariga Community, which received a football.

As announced in 2022, Bolga Soe will be rewarded with a mechanized borehole sponsored by Zayoka Construction Limited, the tournament’s main sponsor.

Political Support:

Both NDC and NPP parliamentary candidates for Bolgatanga Municipality in the 2024 general elections—Hon. Isaac Adongo and Hon. Atia Figo Awonekai—pledged GHC 2,000 each to support both Bolga Soe and Tanzui. This increases Bolga Soe’s total winnings to GHC 3,000 and Tanzui’s to GHC 2,800.

The Frafra Inter-Community Unity Football Tournament continues to serve as a shining example of the power of sports to bring communities together and foster unity and friendly competition.
